Will the NJDOH mandate the new meningococcal vaccine for college students?
Have you shared your opposition to the NJDOH proposed code changes?
As we have written about previously, a New Jersey Department of Health memo went out to “NJ stakeholders,” on Monday, May 8, 2023 asking for a review of a power point presentation on their proposed revisions of the New Jersey Administrative Code Title 8 Chapter 57 which covers Communicable Diseases and related topics. The current rule is set to expire on February 8, 2024.
One of the proposed code changes is to the NJ Statute: 18A:62-15.1, listed in the NJDOH PowerPoint presentation as a proposal to, “add the new meningococcal vaccine requirement in accordance with the ACIP recommendations as a condition of attendance for NJ colleges.”
Alert your legislators to this unnecessary NJDOH vaccine addition by taking ACTION TODAY!
You can also contact your local county Board of Health officer to let them know that you oppose the NJDOH proposed code changes. An email template is available to copy/paste/edit to let your local Board of Health officer know your opposition.
A copy of the letter can also be sent to your school district superintendent and/or school nurse to share your concerns about the various NJDOH proposals.
We must continue to educate our legislative representatives, our local health departments, school nurse/superintendent and our fellow peers about the various code changes being proposed in the NJDOH PowerPoint presentation. All of our community representatives must be made aware of NJ’s strong opposition to these code changes!
